HEREÕS THE CHURCH, HEREÕS THE STEEPLE . . .
A Mixed Media Church History Project

OBJECTIVE
Each student will create a structure resembling a church building, similar to the cube created for the KaÕaba Project in seventh grade that note significant events in the ChurchÕs history and the marks of the Catholic Church.
SPECIFICATIONS
Size: no side panel can be smaller than 8Ó x 6Ó
Panel Material: any firm cardboard that can stand on its own and will create a smooth corner seam so that all sides can remain connected through scoring or folds (no adhesive). Avoid corrugated foam or cardboard. Recycled materials are recommended.
:: Outside rectangular panels (walls) will contain information about our ChurchÕs history divided into five key segments:
¤ The Apostolic Period (30-400 A.D.)
¤ The Early Middle Ages (400-1000 A.D.)
¤ The Late Middle Ages (1000-1500 A.D.)
¤ The Reformation to Counter Reformation (1500-1869)
¤ The
Modern to Post-modern Era (1869-Present)
:: Outside triangular panels (roof/steeple) will
contain information about the four marks of the Catholic Church:
¤ One
¤ Holy
¤ Catholic
¤ Apostolic
:: The inside wall panels will contain illustrations
or art (including music) and the people of that era.
:: The inside steeple panels will contain
illustrations or art that represent each of the corresponding marks of the
Catholic Church.
ASSESSMENT
Each project will be assessed based on the studentÕs knowledge of Church history and the four marks of the Catholic Church as exhibited in the product submitted. Scores will be based on the accuracy of the information presented (historical information and appropriate images) along with the attractiveness of the piece. The studentÕs pride in his or her work will be evident because the project will be turned in on time and completed according to the specifications above.
