PHILOSOPHY:
My personal education
began in a Catholic school, Our Lady of Sorrows, in Vestal, New
York. When my family moved to California, I attended Morgan
Hill public schools, through Live Oak High School.
I love teaching all
of the students that attend St. Mary, and I feel very fortunate
that I have the chance to teach them toward the beginning of their
time here, in third grade, then again in 7th or 8th grade for math.
It is amazing to see how their personalities develop and grow in
such a short time!
In third grade, Mrs. Wierzba and I try
to help students develop the skills they need to become successful
lifelong learners, such as organization, note taking, and beginning
study skills. I also try very hard to work with students of all
ages on critical thinking skills. Much of this is done through
problem solving activities, working both alone and collaboratively.
One thought I have posted in my math class is, "The goal is
not to be over and done. The goal is to think and reflect."
I hope that students begin to reflect on their learning and on their
own strengths and abilities. |
