St. Mary School offers an Extended Care Program for St. Mary
School students enrolled at all grade levels. The program
includes time for snacks, play, homework and crafts. Because
this is an Extended Care Program, students must have attended
the regular school day in order to use Extended Care.

Extended Care and tuition payments to the school must remain
current. Once these payments become delinquent, the child
automatically becomes ineligible for the program and may be
dropped. Extended Care bills are DUE UPON RECEIPT and a $25
late fee will be assessed when Extended Care fees become
delinquent after the 15th of the month.

The Extended Care Sign In/Out Form is a legal document, there-
fore it should not be tampered with. If you feel that an error
was made, please speak to the Extended Care Director.

of 6:45 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. all school days and on designated
Teacher In-Service days.

After 6:00 P.M., children may be picked up at the St. Mary
Parish Office, 11 First Street. Staff members are employed only
until 6 P.M. It is common courtesy to respect the program’s

GENERAL RULES & PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
DROP OFF & PICK UP
♦ Students are to be dropped off and picked up at the quad
entrance to Extended Care from the parking lot. Please
knock for admittance. (For your information, the most
hectic time at Extended Care is within the first fifteen
minutes following dismissal. If at all possible, please pick up
your child before or after that time.)
♦ Pull into a designated parking space according to St. Mary
School procedures. DO NOT STOP or PARK in yellow
stripped zones at ANY time!
♦ Parents are required to sign their child out each evening.
The child will not be released to any person other than the
parents or authorized adult at least 18 years of age with
signature on file. For the child’s safety, telephone requests
to release child to an unauthorized person will NOT be
granted. A note from a parent is acceptable if an adult at
least 18 years of age other than those from the emergency
card list will be picking the child(ren) for the day.
♦ A child may not leave campus and return later to check in to
the program. A parent or other authorized adult may sign a
child out from Extended Care for an appointment (doctor,
dentist, etc.) and return the child to the program. Make
sure appropriate signatures are provided upon departure and return.

♦ If a child is expected in Extended Care, he/she is not
permitted to remain in the classroom to work with teachers.
♦ Students that are on the school property 15 minutes before
school, or 15 minutes after dismissal will be sent to Extended
Care and will be billed the hourly rate.
♦ For After School Athletic Program information, please refer to
Athletics Supervision section of this Handbook.

ILLNESSES
For the welfare of all students in our care, a child who contracts
a contagious disease (including severe colds or viruses) should be
kept at home. If your child should become ill during Extended
Care hours, you will be expected to pick him or her up at once.

SNACKS
Afternoon snacks will be provided for the children. Please notify
staff of any food allergies your child may have.

DISCIPLINE
Behavioral problems will be brought to the attention of the
child’s parents and the Principal. Recurring behavior problems
will be brought to the attention of the Principal and are cause
for dismissal from the program.

TOYS & PERSONAL PROPERTY
No toys or electronic devices shall be brought to Extended Care.
Personal and/or library books may be brought, but we cannot be
responsible for damage or loss. School policies regarding per-
sonal property and cell phone use applies.

HOMEWORK
♦ Homework period is scheduled from 3:15 P.M. to 4 P.M.
♦ It is the child’s responsibility to complete his/her assignment
and to use the time and resources available. Parents should
review homework done in Extended Care with their child at
home.
♦ During homework period, the staff will maintain a quiet
environment in which students can do their homework.
Students who do not have homework will be asked to respect
the need for quiet during this time.
♦ Students must provide their own supplies.

♦ Students who have checked in to Extended Care will not be
permitted to return to the classroom to retrieve books,
materials, or supplies.
♦ Kindergarten students do homework at home with their
parents.

AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS CONSIDERATIONS
If a parent coaches a school team, his or her St. Mary School
child(ren) may use Extended Care free of charge during the time
they are coaching. Parents/coaches using this service must
check students in/out of the program each time it is used.
Coaches must write “coaching” in the OFFICE USE ONLY section
of the sign out form so that they will not be charged.

Students participating in an after school sports game or practice
can use Extended Care free of charge before a game or practice
as long as they check in upon dismissal from school. (Limit 1 hour
prior to game or practice: you will be charged for the entire time
if your child exceeds the 1 hour limit.)

Students must check in to Extended Care before changing for a
game or practice.
