JANUARY 11, 2012: Kindergarten Open House, 6:30PM
JANUARY 12: K-8 Open House, 10:45AM-Noon
JANUARY 18: Letters of Intent to Return (to families currently registered)
JANUARY 20: Registration of all incoming Kindergarten students, 9AM-Noon
JANUARY 21: Registration and Screening of incoming Grade 1-8 students, 9AM
JANUARY 28: Kindergarten Testing (Day 1 of 2 choices)
FEBRUARY 4: Kindergarten Testing (Day 2 of 2 choices)
Letters of acceptance will be issued prior to Easter Break
APRIL 18: RE-REGISTRATION of currently enrolled families
APRIL 27: 140th ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE!
MAY 8 & 9: REGISTRATION PAPERWORK ISSUED FOR NEW FAMILIES

REGISTRATION DAY
If your child will be entering Kindergarten:
•Bring a COPY of your child's Birth
Certificate and Baptismal Certificate, if applicable.
•Complete a short application.
•Schedule a testing date for
one of the scheduled Saturdays following registration.
•Pay a $25 processing
fee
If
your child will be entering Grades 1-8:
•Bring a COPY of your child's Birth
Certificate, Baptismal Certificate, if applicable, and the
most recent
Report Card.
•Complete a short application.
•Pay a $25 processing fee.
•You will be notified by mail of the results of the screening.
| Applications are not
kept for more than one year. If your child is not accepted
for the year you apply, be sure to contact the school in
January to begin the registration process for the current
year. |

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:

RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION
Formal instruction in each classroom with religion integrated
into all aspects of the curriculum and campus life. Students
are offered many opportunities for prayer, both formal and
spontaneous, for participation in school and class Masses
and para-liturgical celebrations, and acts of mercy (community
service, charity).

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES To take responsibility for education
expenses; to participate in the educational experience; to
support the school philosophy and policies.
FINANCIAL POLICIES

Parent Commitments and Obligations (Scrip and SRO's)
Shared
Responsibility Opportunities: a minimum of 50 hours per family per year; these
hours are required in order to help keep the cost of tuition as
low as possible. All hours must be completed by May 31st of each year.
SCREENING
All incoming students are screened in order to verify basic skills
and to determine placement. Kindergarten testing is a readiness
testing for the Saint Mary School Kinder program. It includes
letter and number recognition, matching simple shapes, visual
discrimination, ability to follow directions, large and small
motor coordination, auditory discrimination, simple counting,
level of socialization and communication skills.
UNIFORMS
Boys: White or gray polo shirts or turtleneck, blue cords or twill,
SMS sweatshirt or sweater, white, blue, or black athletic shoes
Girls: Plaid jumper in addition to above.
Uniform shorts may be
worn.
ATHLETICS 
After school sports program for Grades 5-8 in volleyball, football,
basketball, and softball.
Affiliation: Diocese of San Jose Catholic Athletic League –
East Division
EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM
Available on school days 6:45 AM to 6 PM and on designated Teacher
In-Service Days, eCare is designed to support and supplement
the family by providing quality care that promotes the students’
physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development through
nurturing staff members in a planned environment. The program
strives to provide individual attention, security, consistency,
and fair treatment of students of Saint Mary School.
